Apple’s iPhone 5 released today, and Sultan Solutions has one to review. Fresh from his Android Nexus 7 unboxing and review videos, Sultan Solutions team member Michael Ortega had a chance to pick one up this morning. Mike has been eager to check out the iPhone 5 and give you his thoughts.
Despite rumors that the iPhone 5 is only a minor upgrade to the iPhone 4S, this is actually a noticeably better iPhone. At first glance, the new phone is marginally thinner and taller, and has a slightly larger screen, but it’s the internal hardware specs that are substantially better than before.
We snapped some photos of the new iPhone 5 to give you an idea of how it compares to the iPhone 4s and the Samsung Galaxy III, the screen might not be as large as the SG3 however it is thinner.
With twice the RAM, a faster CPU, and options for up to four times the storage, the iPhone 5 is a lot more powerful than the 4S. It also has a decently longer battery life, a better front camera, and uses the new reversible “lightning” connector instead of Apple’s old standard 30-pin.
By Apple standards it’s certainly no mind-blowing, life-changing upgrade to the preexisting hardware, but if this were Nokia, Samsung, or any other cell phone manufacturer we were talking about, no one would question that this was a strong enough improvement to warrant the release of a new product.
